چکیده
Abstract. Neogene indentation of the Adriatic plate into Europe led to major modifications Alpine orogenic structures and style deformation in Eastern Southern Alps. The Giudicarie Belt is a prime example this, as it offsets entire edifice; its activity has been kinematically linked strike-slip faulting lateral extrusion Remaining questions on exact role this fold-and-thrust belt structure orogen at depth necessitate quantitative analysis shortening, kinematics, decoupling beneath adjacent parts Tectonic balancing network seven cross sections through parallel local NNW–SSE shortening direction reveals that comprises two kinematic domains accommodated different amounts during overlapping times. These are separated by NW–SE-oriented Trento-Cles–Schio-Vicenza fault system, which front south merges with Northern Fault north. SW domain (Val Trompia sector) least ? 18 km Late Oligocene Early Miocene shortening. Since Middle Miocene, experienced 12–22 whereas NE 25–35 Together, these contributed an estimated minimum 40–47 sinistral motion along Fault, implying most offset Periadriatic due Moreover, faults linking reach 15–20 depth, indicating thick-skinned tectonic deformation. detachments may also connect lower crustal wedge protruded north responsible for N–S eastward, orogen-parallel escape deeply exhumed units Tauern Window. Finally, E–W variation across indicates internal strength indenter related Permian–Mesozoic paleogeographic zones.

Middle Paleozoic convergent orogenic belts in western Inner Mongolia (China): framework, kinematics, geochronology and implications for tectonic evolution of the Central Asian Orogenic Belt
Based mainly on field geological observation and geochronologic data, six tectonic units have been recognized in western Inner Mongolia (China), including, from south to north: North China Craton (NCC), Southern Orogenic Belt (SOB), Hunshandake Block (HB), Northern Orogenic Belt (NOB), South Mongolia microcontinent (SMM), and Southern margin of Ergun Block (SME), suggesting that the tectonic fr...
متن کاملNeogene aridification of the Northern Hemisphere
Neogene cooling and aridifi cation in the Northern Hemisphere have long been recognized, but there are no studies comparing patterns of aridity gradients or differences between North America and Eurasia. Large herbivorous mammals are an excellent source for understanding large-scale environmental and climatic patterns because their molar crown height (hypsodonty) refl ects both habitat and prec...

Role of supra-subduction zone ophiolites in the tectonic evolution of the southeastern Zagros Orogenic Belt, Iran
Ophiolitic rocks in the southeastern part of the Zagros Orogenic Belt can be separated from southwest to northeast, into two groups: the Neyriz ophiolites and the Naien–Shahrebabak–Baft ophiolites. The southeast sector of Sanandaj-Sirjan wasdelimited by the two nearly synchronous ophiolitic belts in its southwestern and northeastern margins. In this study, new ophiolitic formation models were u...
